Where to stay in Bansko during the Bansko Nomad Fest?

Le Rétro Bansko

I planned on staying at Le Retro Bansko for only a week, during the BNF in June, but I ended up extending for a few more days. Staying at Stephen’s place was such an amazing and comfortable experience. The bathroom & room (I stayed in the 4 beds dorm), although a bit small, are clean and meet all your needs. The bathroom is cleaned daily, there is enough warm water for all to shower and you can change your bed sheets when you want. There’s also private rooms that I think looked really nice! 🤌🏽 The view from the terrace was great and I loved being on my laptop, enjoying the sunset view and the mountain.

Kitchen

The kitchen is on the other part of the house and has all the amenities you’ll need- stove, microwave, utensils, small fridge, space for dry food etc. There is an option to get you breakfast at Le Retro- which I did select but quickly remembered I am NOT a morning person🤣. I missed the first breakfast haha so not for me! But still a great option to know since it’s always good to have breakfast on the spot if you know you’re about to have a busy day from the early morning and do not have time to stop at a restaurant 🥞

Living Room

The living room is so so sooo cozy I lowkey wanted to sleep there🧡 I already miss that big teddy bear there. It must be such an amazing vibe during winter (peak season) when it’s full of people hanging out there. It was a bit empty because it’s summer, but, the few people I met here were super cool. Also, Stephen is social and welcoming. You’ll find him in the living room chilling there every morning or running errands around the house. It’s always lovely and fun to chat with him! ✨

Location

The location of the hostel was perfect for the Bansko Nomad Fest. It was just 6 to 8 minutes walk from the three different stages/zones of the event, so it was really easy and fast to get where I wanted, or comeback here mid-day to take a nap. Other folks who stayed in more “central” parts of Bansko had to walk 20-30 mins to get to the event, which was not ideal since it meant you need to stay around most part of the day because you’d feel lazy, or, like losing time going back and forth📍It was also a very calm part of the town so I loved that.

Overall

Overall I totally recommend this place to stay at during the Bansko Nomad Fest, or just in general if you are visiting Bansko anytime, as a solo traveller. It’s also not too far from the train station, so you won’t need to take an expensive taxi to get here nor walk 40 min. There are also groceries and restaurant around so truly, a well located hostel! You’ll have fun with your roommates and others travellers there 🙌🏽 Make sure to book directly with him for a better rate! It was 25 lev per night as of June 2025.

Thank you Stephen for this amazing stay and next time I come, I’ll try to get out of bed earlier than noon 😂
